It’s officially Summer, the season to bare all on the beach. Try these top tips make sure this year you are in your best shape ever. From the pool to the beach we’ve got you covered. Or should that be uncovered?
1. DRINK MORE WATER
Drinking water and staying hydrated will help you to reduce water retention, bloating on your stomach and enable you to make all your hard work visible. Try adding lemon slices to your water to help in reducing bloating. Whenever my clients are approaching a major event or big shoot I am very strict on these little tricks because I know these little changes can make a big difference in making sure you are able to look as toned and defined as possible.
2. WORK YOUR BUTT OFF
As your holiday approaches you will need to increase the frequency, Increase the intensity and reduce the duration of your workouts. Think short, sharp, high intensity. Add short sprints into your runs, quicken your pace when walking or in any sport, simply add a short spurt of 30 seconds elevating your heart rate. Create a short routine of total body exercises that can be performed anywhere and with minimal equipment so you can continue throughout your holiday.
Work on your weakest body parts and start early so the final weeks can be spent fine-tuning and sculpting your muscles to create a longer, leaner look
3. DON’T STOP THE MOMENT YOUR PLANE LEAVES
Of course, you can pack your training shoes and workout clothes, you can hit the hotel gym every morning, you can stick to your regular workouts, but this is your chance to add something new and different to your routine. Hit the beach and run barefoot in the sand, take a hike in the mountains or hire a bike. Spend a few hours swimming each day and work your core and legs. Did you know in 1 hour of strong swimming you could burn as many as 400 calories?… however, lying on an inflatable banana drinking Pina Coladas doesn’t count.
4. NO CARBS AT NIGHT
If you need a motivation to stick with this, just remember, the first thing you are going to do when you wake up in the morning, is stick your bikini on and head straight out to the beach or pool – in full view of everybody.
If you cut out carbs several hours before you go to bed, your body will burn calories while you sleep rather than having to burn off the plate of fries you just ate. Remember, when you are on holiday you’re going to go to bed later and sleep in late – a 3am burger and fries is a late night snack not breakfast.
Fake tanning is not only for the stars of Jersey Shore. You’re probably already aware of the sin-hiding benefits of fake tan – how a touch of colour effortlessly covers all those lumps and bumps, evening out blemishes for a smooth and sexy finish. But contouring takes it to a whole new level.
With some clever shading and contouring, you can highlight your best bits and add definition and tone where you need it most, creating the bikini body you’ve always wanted.
Make-up artists have been doing this for years. I’ve worked on many photo shoots and film sets where contouring has been as important to developing muscle definition as the 6 months of intense dieting and training – particularly for the abdominals and problematic bingo wings.
